Neodymium Iron Boron or NdFeb

Known also as 'super' or 'neo' magnets and commercially available since 1984, rare earth magnets are the smallest and most powerful of all permanent magnets. A combination of neodymium, iron and boron, they are a logical choice when extra strength in a reduced size is important.

Although more expensive than ferrite magnets, rare earth magnets are 5 to 7 times stronger and offer the most value for money. They provide high energy, maximum efficiency and extreme stability when exposed to other electromagnetic fields. For this reason they are commonly used in engineering, electronics and medical fields.

About the product

• Chemical composition: Nd₂Fe₁₄B.
• Produced by powder metallurgical process.
• Readily available in various forms and shapes, nickel-plated.
• Very hard and brittle, cannot be drilled or machined.
• Extremely stable and highly resistant to demagnetisation.
• Precise calibration is achievable for critical applications.
• Excellent strength/cost value.
• Relatively low resistance to corrosion.
• Not suitable for high temperatures application (80¼C plus).
